Newcastle United fans are still hopeful of signing Salomon Rondon from West Bromwich Albion if their takeover goes through.

Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan suggested yesterday that he had reached an agreement to buy Newcastle from Mike Ashley.

The takeover bid has got Newcastle supporters dreaming of potential transfer targets, as they should have a huge budget to spend.

However, Newcastle fans have not forgotten Rondon’s impact at St James’ Park.

Rondon won Newcastle’s Player of the Season award over the past campaign, and the Magpies can make the Venezualan’s transfer permanent for £16.5 million, as reported by the Telegraph.

However, Ashley has doubts over signing Rondon permanently due to the age.

Newcastle fans have been left hugely frustrated by the club’s failure to bring in Rondon from West Brom so far this summer, and they are hoping that their potential new owners make buying the target-man a priority, if they do take charge.
