Newcastle United have been linked with the signing of Richmond Boakye from Red Star Belgrade.

Boakye has been one of the most prolific scorers in Europe over the early part of the campaign, with the forward finding the net 14 times in 13 league matches for Red Star Belgrade.
But Boakye’s struggles in the Europa League, should cause some concern for Newcastle.

Boakye has caused problems in Serbia’s top flight, but against tougher opponents he has found things difficult.
Boakye may have scored against Koln, but he drew blanks in the five other Europa League games he featured in.
It is fair to say that the standard of opponent in the Premier League will be closer to those teams which Boakye faced in the Europa League, rather than in Serbia’s top division, if he is to move to Newcastle.

And his return of one goal in six games hardly suggests that he would tear up the Premier League, with a move to St. James’ Park.
Therefore Newcastle fans should be very cautious over the links with Boakye, as although they may seem exciting, it would be foolish to expect the 24-year-old to transform their campaign around.
