Newcastle United fans have questioned why Rafael Benitez did not give Yoshinori Muto a chance against Fulham this weekend.

Newcastle were held to a 0-0 draw at St. James’ Park on Saturday, and they rarely threatened during the contest.

Newcastle struggled to break down the Premier League’s most porous defence, as their attacking deficiencies were highlighted once again.

But Newcastle fans do not feel that Benitez was entirely blameless for the disappointing result.

Muto was Newcastle’s most expensive summer signing, but he has not seen much action so far.

And many Newcastle supporters are baffled over why Benitez did not use the Japanese international, who was kept on the substitutes’ bench for the whole fixture.

Newcastle’s draw with Fulham has kept them in 15th place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming against Liverpool on Boxing Day.
