Newcastle ran out 2-0 winners over Sunderland yesterday, with Fernandez causing the Black Cats all sorts of problems.
The winger first won Newcastle a penalty early on, before he completed the scoring with a fine finish.
Fernandez did have to come off injured late on in the contest, but he still had a really positive night.
And Newcastle fans have praised Fernandez’s display for the youngsters.
Fernandez is still waiting for his first senior appearance at Newcastle, but he is regarded as one of their more impactful players at youth team level.
Fernandez is now 21 though, and with his contract expiring at the end of the season his future remains very much up in the air.
Newcastle’s win over Sunderland has pushed them up to ninth in the Premier League 2 standings, while the Black Cats have just one point from their eight games so far.
