Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce spoke on Sky Sports about his future at the club beyond Mike Ashley’s era.

The Magpies’ takeover is said to be completed very shortly and the ambitious new owners are expected to make a lot of changes at the club, which might include a new manager at the helm.

Bruce was only appointed at the start of this season and he has done a decent job. The Magpies are currently 13th in the league, eight points above the relegation spot.

The former Sunderland boss’s main objective was to keep Newcastle in the Premier League and, unless they capitulate in the final nine games of the campaign, there should be no worry about dropping down.

Newcastle are rumoured to be interested in appointing former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager, which would mean that Bruce will be sacked once the takeover is complete.

However, the current Magpies boss has claimed that he will back himself to do a good job if he is retained by the new owners but Newcastle fans feel that his time at the club has come to an end.

Most fans are really appreciative of Bruce for his job this season but feel that they will need a bigger name at the helm to attract the best players in the world.
