Newcastle United fans have hit back at Steve Bruce after he stated that criticism of his tactics was ‘nonsense’.

Bruce has told the Chronicle that Newcastle’s players need to show more heart if they are to improve.

The Magpies were beaten 5-0 by Leicester City, with Bruce switching to a 4-4-2 system.

Newcastle’s tactics have been widely criticised throughout the season so far.

But Bruce insists that Newcastle’s flaws don’t stem from a lack of tactical knowledge.

“I have heard lots of nonsense about tactics but the big thing is about showing pride and having a go,” Bruce said.

The comments have not gone down at all with with Newcastle supporters, who think that Bruce is failing to spot a big problem.

Newcastle have now taken just five points from their first seven games this season.

Things do not get any easier for the Magpies either, as they are due to face Chelsea and Manchester United next.
