Newcastle United fans wish Siem De Jong luck following the completion of his move to PSV Eindhoven.
De Jong arrived at Newcastle United from Ajax during the summer of 2014 with the reputation as one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe but one can safely state that the transfer has proven to be an unmitigated disaster.
Due to a host of persistent injury problems, De Jong was limited to only 26 appearances throughout the course of the last two seasons and following Newcastle’s relegation into the Championship, it was widely believed that the 27-year-old would be leaving St. James’ Park.
Following much speculation, De Jong has finally sealed a move away from Newcastle by joining Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven on a season long loan deal recently and the Dutch international will now be reuniting with his younger brother and former Magpie Luuk De Jong at the Philips Stadion.
Newcastle United fans would most certainly have been left very disappointed that De Jong was not able to keep himself fit during his time at St. James’ Park but despite their frustration, the Magpies’ faithful took to social media website Twitter to wish the attacker luck upon the completion of the transfer.
