Newcastle United have been linked with Pepe Reina again.

Pepe Reina of Liverpool looks on during the Barclays Premier League match between Manchester City and Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on February 3, 2013 in Manchester, England.

Newcastle United fans have reacted to rumours about Pepe Reina arriving this month.

It has been another frustrating transfer window for Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez who up until this week did not even know the budget that he was working with.

The Magpies are only three points above the relegation zone in the Premier League and reinforcements are vital to strengthen their bid of staying in the top flight.

The Sun reported on Saturday that Benitez was weighing up a £10 million move for the former Liverpool goalkeeper, whom he has signed twice already in his career.

The report also adds that the 35-year-old – now at Napoli – would command wages in the region of £100,000 per week.

Benitez still definitely needs a striker and Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Swansea was evidence of that, and quite a few fans of the Tyneside club would rather see a goalscorer take priority if Newcastle have that sort of money to spend.

Karl Darlow made an error in Saturday’s draw with bottom-of-the-table Swans and although they definitely need a striker, a goalkeeper should also be high on the list of priorities.
