Newcastle United’s takeover hasn’t gone through yet, but fans surely won’t be waiting too much longer.
The Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund, Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brothers are set to seal a £300million takeover at St James’ Park.
There’s some anxiety; the deal was expected to be done in April. We’re now into May and there’s still no confirmation.
Still, rumours are emerging about the plans after the takeover is done. Not only are managers and players being linked, but also directors.
A director of football will surely be brought in, and The Chronicle claim that Nikos Dabizas is one player being eyed up for the role.
Contact has allegedly been made with Dabizas, who is the current director of football at Panathinaikos. He would allegedly be ‘delighted’ to come back to Tyneside.

Dabizas spent five years with Newcastle as a player, before ultimately turning his hand to the recruitment side of the game.
Newcastle fans have been having their say on Twitter, with some pleased with the idea of the former defender coming back to the Magpies.
However, many believe that Dabizas may not be the right man for the job. There’s a belief that this big, new project at Newcastle needs a big name, and Dabizas would be an ‘underwhelming’ option.
