Newcastle United are interested in signing the Southampton man today it seems.

Newcastle need a new left-back after losing Vurnon Anita and Achraf Lazaar looks set to leave the Magpies today.

And, according to Sky Sports, United boss Rafael Benitez has asked Southampton about signing the 21-year-old on a season-long loan.
It is unlikely to have the option of a permanent deal after Targett penned a five-year extension with the Saints a little earlier this month, but fans of the St James’s Park club seem on board with the prospect of signing him.
Targett is unlikely to have Newcastle fans delirious with joy on deadline day, but he is a solid, capable young defender.
Benitez’s side have lost two of their first three Premier League games this season and perhaps the Spanish manager could do with some more personnel at the other end of the field.
