Newcastle United fans are highly dubious over claims that they could sign Everton’s James McCarthy.
TeamTalk have suggested that Rafael Benitez wants to bring in McCarthy, if he stays at Newcastle.
The Magpies have been long term admirers of the Republic of Ireland international.
However, Newcastle supporters feel that the moment has gone for them to sign McCarthy from Everton.
McCarthy has not featured at all for the Toffees over the past campaign, after breaking his leg.
The 28-year-old is also beyond the age of the players that Newcastle have typically tended to sign on permanent deals.
Newcastle are likely to be on the look out for a new central midfielder this summer, as the likes of Mo Diame, Jonjo Shelvey and Isaac Hayden could all leave in the coming weeks.
