Newcastle United fans admit that they wish Rafael Benitez never let Kevin Mbabu go, after his performance for Switzerland last night.
Newcastle sold Mbabu back in 2017, after he failed to make the grade at St. James’ Park.
However, the rapid full-back has gone from strength to strength since leaving Newcastle and playing regularly.
Mbabu is now starting for Young Boys and has forced his way into Switzerland’s national team.
His performance last night for his country was impressive, even though Switzerland lost 3-1 to Portugal.
And Newcastle fans feel that Benitez made a big mistake letting Mbabu go.
If Mbabu was still at Newcastle there is a strong argument to suggest that he would be starting.
Newcastle have DeAndre Yedlin as their first choice right-back, but he is not always the most solid defensively.
