Newcastle United have been linked with France international Kevin Gameiro…..again.

Newcastle United need a new striker this month and they have just been linked with a brilliant one.
The 30-year-old, signed from Paris Saint-Germain for £27 million in the summer of 2016, has had to accept a bit-part role with the Spanish giants this season due to Diego Costa’s return and has only started six Primera Division games for Diego Simeone’s side.

Nevertheless, the Frenchman has still managed to bag himself four goals in spite of the reduction in playing time and Newcastle and Southampton are keen.
Gameiro is one of those players who often finds himself linked with the Magpies and although some fans of the St James’s Park would love it, others can’t see it materialising.

It remains to be seen how much Gameiro would cost, but surely Atletico must accept a loss on their initial investment, given his age and situation in the Spanish capital.
Plus, Newcastle are unlikely to be paying eight-figure sums for any player so long as the situation with Mike Ashley continues, but a short-term loan, with a view to a permanent deal if Amanda Staveley’s takeover bid is resurrected and completed by the summer, could be a shrewd move by Rafael Benitez.
