Tottenham Hotspur take on Newcastle United in the Premier League this evening, and Jose Mourinho will be hoping for a rare result at St James’ Park.
Mourinho’s record at Newcastle over the years isn’t exactly great, and his Spurs side are a little inconsistent.
They managed home wins over Everton and Arsenal, but were thumped 3-0 at Sheffield United and drew 0-0 at Bournemouth.
Mourinho needs a better away performance today, and he heads to a stadium that means a lot to him on a personal level.
Newcastle legend Sir Bobby Robson was Mourinho’s mentor at Sporting, Porto and Barcelona, playing a key role in the early stages of his coaching career.
Ahead of today’s game, Mourinho noted that Newcastle have been a part of his life ‘indirectly’ because of Robson’s passion for his hometown club.

Mourinho also wants to see Newcastle become ‘bigger and better’ with a huge takeover, even if he of course wants to beat them tonight.
Newcastle fans responded to Mourinho’s comments, with many actually wanting him to become Magpies boss in the future as a way to honour Robson.
Others think Mourinho wants the Newcastle job, and believe it could actually be possible if the club is finally taken over.
