The Newcastle United midfielder has not been seen much of late.

Jonjo Shelvey during the Newcastle United Training session at the Newcastle United Training Centre on January 03, 2019 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

Newcastle United fans are reacting on Twitter to Jonjo Shelvey’s cameo against Manchester United.

Shelvey emerged from the substitutes’ bench for the second game running with 37 minutes left at St James’ Park, and showcased arguably the best and worst of his game during that time.

One eye-of-the-needle pass should have drawn a better finish from Christian Atsu, while a studs-down challenge on Paul Pogba should have earned the 26-year-old a straight red card.

Some of the Newcastle faithful have also questioned Shelvey’s role in the visitors’ second goal, which was scored with ease by Marcus Rashford.

And many appear to have reached the end of their tether with the former England international, who has just returned from a four-game spell outside Rafa Benitez’s matchday 18 and is said to have interest from rival Premier League clubs in the January transfer window.

This is what they are saying about him on Twitter…

Both Newcastle and Manchester United continued to exchange chances until Romelu Lukaku’s opener seconds after coming on in the 63rd minute.

Rashford then sealed a 2-0 win for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side with 10 minutes remaining.

What should Newcastle do with Shelvey?
