Newcastle United’s takeover hangs in the balance after weeks of negotiations, with the deal yet to be completed.

The Magpies have been the source of major takeover speculation for weeks now, with the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund, Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brother seeking to purchase the club.

There have bee many, many hurdles so far. There are still some to clear, but fans will hope to have positive news in the coming weeks – especially with so many rumours flying around.

One emerged on Sunday night; The Telegraph report that Rafael Benitez wants the job, and has already picked out two potential signings.

Benitez allegedly wants Manchester City defender John Stones and Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley. With big money to spend, Newcastle may be able to lure the pair to Tyneside.

Both players made their names with Everton, and were tipped for bright futures. However, they have somewhat stalled in their development, and are bit-part players right now.

Benitez may feel that he can get the best out of both players, and Newcastle fans seem a little mixed about the prospect of the duo arriving.

Some feel that Benitez is the ideal manager to improve both players, with a belief that they would improve the current Newcastle side.

Others aren’t so convinced, feeling that they’re ‘average’ players, and whilst Benitez returning would be great, these potential signings aren’t quite as appealing.
