Newcastle United stole a point in North London today as they grabbed a last-gasp equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Magpies barely laid a glove on Spurs in the first half, and were deservedly behind at half time with Lucas Moura opening the scoring for the hosts.

Tottenham couldn’t kill the game off though, and they were made to pay in very controversial circumstances in the dying stages of injury time.

A long ball into the box was nodded on by Andy Carroll, and whilst Eric Dier wasn’t even looking at the ball, it struck his arm and a penalty was given.

Callum Wilson stepped up to score, and Tottenham were left fuming as Newcastle left with a point against the odds.

Karl Darlow was the star of the show with 11 saves to his name, but Newcastle fans also wanted to offer some praise to attacker Joelinton.

The Brazilian has often been criticised for his performances as a striker, and he was today deployed as more of a left-sided attacker by Steve Bruce.

Joelinton worked hard and drew praise from supporters, with fans praising his display as ‘very good’ whilst feeling that he was ‘much better’ out wide and looked like a ‘different player’.
