According to reports from The Sun, Newcastle United are considering making a move for Swansea City’s Jefferson Montero.
The Magpies are willing to spend around £4 million on the Ecuadorian.
Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is keen to add Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore to his squad, but Montero offers a cheaper alternative.

Benitez has been offered Montero, according to The Northern Echo, because the player has entered the final year of his contract at Swansea.
The Spaniard had showed an interest in signing Montero in January, and therefore a formal move for him cannot be possibly ruled out.
Newcastle fans are divided in opinion (judging by the Twitter reactions) about Montero – while many feel he would be a good signing, there are some who think he is a “cheaper option” for a reason.
Bolstering the attacking department is one of Rafa’s first priority this summer – the Magpies being linked with players like Jesus Navas, as reported by AS.
Montero didn’t enjoy a productive campaign with the Welsh outfit last season, but at that price, he could be a decent addition to the squad.
