Newcastle United fans react to Jamaal Lascelles being named captain

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has decided upon picking Jamaal Lascelles to wear the armband.

Newcastle United fans have had a mixed review to Jamaal Lascelles being named captain.

Steve Bruce has confirmed that Lascelles will remain as Newcastle’s captain for the upcoming campaign in the Chronicle.

While some Newcastle fans think it is a good decision, others have suggested that there were other candidates that they would have preferred to wear the armband.

Personally very happy about that. We know he’s had his ups and downs, but he’s a good captain and a very responsible person. Unfazed by most things. Hopefully he can step things up another notch this year. #nufc

That’ll do for me. Form was up and down last season, but leadership is about so much more, and I’ve always thought he was a good leader. Takes responsibility, holds players to account, even ones far more senior and established than he was.
