Newcastle United striker Islam Slimani’s career at the club appears to be over already after he was hit with a FA ban.

Slimani has been handed a three game ban by the FA for violent conduct meaning he will miss the remainder of the season.

The striker is on loan from Leicester City and has not done enough to earn a permanent deal.

Slimani spent the first part of his loan spell out injured and has only just started to get going at Newcastle.

He had made one start and three further substitute appearances, and was yet to score.

Newcastle may consider the loan as worth a gamble, but it has not paid off.

Fortunately the rest of the team has stepped up and ensured their Premier League safety, but if they were relying on Slimani then they would be in a really tough spot right now.

Some Newcastle fans are glad to see the back of the Algerian striker, while others feel a bit sorry for him and have asked why Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah was able to escape a violent conduct charge earlier this week after a similar incident.
