Newcastle United fans have been left gutted after Isaac Hayden once again appeared to suggest that he will be leaving St. James’ Park at the end of the season.

Hayden potentially played in front of the Newcastle fans for the last time on Saturday, in Rafael Benitez’s side’s 3-2 defeat to Liverpool.

And his interview after the match had many Newcastle supporters feeling emotional.

He said: “It’s been a pleasure to play in front of these fans every other week.

“Since I’ve come to the club we were in the Championship, three years on we’re a stable Premier League club.

“If I do go, I can look back on it as I’ve been part of something which has been quite successful.”

Hayden was heavily linked with a move away from Newcastle last summer, but it never materialised.

The central midfielder, who is on a contract worth £22,000-a-week (Sportac), has not sulked though, and he has been one of Newcastle’s most in-form players in recent months.

Magpies fans are now gutted to be losing Hayden, and have been disappointed that his mind does not appear to have been changed.

Newcastle have just one game remaining this season, which comes against relegated Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
