Iker Casillas suggested that Newcastle United are his favourite team in England.

In quite a surprising turn of events on Twitter, Iker Casillas has confirmed that when it comes to picking his favourite team from England, his heart lies with Newcastle.
Casillas is one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation. The 37-year-old played more than 700 games for Real Madrid, won five La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues amongst numerous other awards.
He has also played more than 160 times for Spain, and captained the country to European Championship glory in 2008 and 2012, as well as a World Cup win in 2010.
And some Newcastle fans seem to be hoping that the legendary stopper may be tempted to come and see out the remaining days of his career at St James’ Park after his latest tweet.

The goalkeeper decided to list all of his favourite clubs from various countries. And while Los Blancos and Porto were obviously included, he also sprung a couple of surprises – including naming Ajax, who recently produced an incredible performance in the Bernabeu to knock Real Madrid out of the Champions League.
And interestingly, he also named Newcastle as his favourite English team. It is not clear what inspired his love of the Magpies, but several members of the Toon Army on Twitter are delighted that Joselu’s former teammate boasts an admiration for the Premier League side.

Here is Casillas’ tweet as well as some of the responses…
