Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori turned down a move to West Ham United on deadline day in October, but could be on the move in January.

The 22-year-old didn’t want to rush through a move to the London Stadium without knowing how much football he would be playing.

However, Tomori has played just 45 minutes of Premier League football this season, and finds himself as fifth-choice centre back at Stamford Bridge.

He now needs playing time in the second half of the season, especially if he is to salvage any lingering hopes of playing for England at the European Championships.

The Telegraph now claim that Newcastle United want to sign Tomori on loan, with Steve Bruce hoping his relationship with Chelsea can come up trumps.

He managed to sign Tammy Abraham on loan from Chelsea at Aston Villa in 2018, and is now looking for Tomori to join.

Newcastle do have options at the back in Federico Fernandez, Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar and Florian Lejeune, but Tomori could be a huge signing.

Fans have been taking to Twitter to suggest that they would love to see Tomori join, branding him a ‘quality’ and ‘great’ defender.

Others think Tomori would be a ‘dream’ signing and an ‘unreal’ capture, urging Newcastle to get a deal done for Tomori when the transfer window opens next month.
