Dwight Gayle got injured again for Newcastle United while playing against Southampton.
Newcastle United fans appear to be of the opinion that they should have sold Dwight Gayle in the summer transfer window.
Gayle was linked with a host of clubs before the start of the campaign, but Rafael Benitez opted to keep hold of the forward.
Gayle was Newcastle’s top scorer, as the Magpies earned promotion from the Championship last term.
However, the former Crystal Palace man has not made much of an impact at Premier League level.
Gayle is yet to notch in the league this season, and he has lost his place to Joselu in the starting line-up.
The 26-year-old has also suffered with a series of fitness problems, and picked up a calf injury after coming off the substitutes’ bench against Southampton yesterday.
And many Newcastle fans now feel that Gayle’s time at St. James’ Park should be brought to an end.
If Gayle is made available for transfer there is likely to be no shortage of suitors, as his goalscoring record at Championship level is highly impressive.
