The Dutchman has made a swift return to the Premier League.
Newcastle United yesterday confirmed the departure of defender Daryl Janmaat to Watford, via their official website.
The Dutchman joins the Hornets after two years on Tyneside in a deal worth around £7 million, according to Sky Sports.
The Magpies have been swift to replace the 27-year old with the arrival of speed merchant DeAndre Yedlin from Tottenham.
Janmaat was one of the few among the Newcastle squad who acquitted themselves well during the debacle that was last season, and he was a strong performer during his stint at St. James’ Park.
Despite that, he was susceptible to lapses in concentration and was guilty of losing his discipline on several occasions.
Rafael Benitez has been ruthless in his re-shaping of the Magpies’ squad this summer and any player deemed to be less than 100% committed to the cause has been shown the door.
The likes of Dwight Gayle, Matt Ritchie and Grant Hanley have been brought in to provide valuable Championship experience and on paper, Newcastle arguably have the strongest squad in the league.
