Newcastle United yesterday confirmed the departure of defender Daryl Janmaat to Watford, via their official website.

The Dutchman joins the Hornets after two years on Tyneside in a deal worth around £7 million, according to Sky Sports.

The Magpies have been swift to replace the 27-year old with the arrival of speed merchant DeAndre Yedlin from Tottenham.

Janmaat was one of the few among the Newcastle squad who acquitted themselves well during the debacle that was last season, and he was a strong performer during his stint at St. James’ Park.

Despite that, he was susceptible to lapses in concentration and was guilty of losing his discipline on several occasions.
