Newcastle United’s forgotten man Yoan Gouffran reminded supporters of his talent last night with a well taken goal in their latest pre-season friendly.
Gouffran netted the second as Newcastle won 2-0 away to Southend, following up Vurnon Anita’s opening strike.

Gouffran, 30, barely played last season for Newcastle, making only two Premier League starts and a further six substitute appearances.
The attacker’s last competitive game came in a start in a 1-0 loss to Stoke City, when Steve McClaren was still boss.
Now in the Championship, Gouffran could be throwing himself a lifeline, and could yet prove to be a useful squad player for Rafa Benitez to call on this coming season.
Gouffran has 11 goals for the club since signing in 2012/13, an underwhelming record, and supporters were stunned to see him back on the scoresheet.
