Newcastle United started three debutants in their FA Cup victory over Birmingham City last night.
Newcastle United supporters have suggested that Yasin Ben El-Mhanni still has some developing to do before he is ready to become a consistent starter in Rafael Benitez’s first-team.
El-Mhanni made his senior Newcastle debut against Birmingham City in the FA Cup yesterday, and he helped the Tynesiders pick up a 3-1 victory.
The winger has been one of Newcastle’s stand out performers at development level, and Benitez rewarded the youngster for his bright form.
However, the step up required to make the first team was evident, as El-Mhanni struggled to make too much of an impact last night.
Although the 21-year-old showed flashes of quality, Newcastle fans felt that the prospect looked as if he still had some developing to do.
El-Mhanni was not the only youngster who Benitez gave a chance to last night, with Stuart Findlay and Dan Barlaser also receiving opportunities.
Newcastle will meet League One side Oxford United in the next round of the FA Cup.
