Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks got called up to the England squad ahead of Newcastle United’s Jonjo Shelvey.

Newcastle United fans have been left frustrated, after Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks was handed an England call-up.
Winks has only started four Premier League matches for Spurs, but he has still done enough to catch the eye of Gareth Southgate.
Winks has been called in to England’s squad as a late replacement for the injured Fabian Delph.

The 21-year-old midfielder joins up with the Three Lions squad, ahead of their World Cup qualifying games against Slovenia and Lithuania.
Winks has caught the eye whenever he has been given an opportunity in a Tottenham shirt.
But Newcastle supporters believe that Shelvey is more deserving of international recognition.
Shelvey played an important role for Newcastle last term in helping them get promoted, and he impressed in Rafael Benitez’s side’s last match against Liverpool.
The midfielder has suffered through ill-discipline though, and that could stand against him, in the race for England selection.
