Findlay was snapped up by Newcastle United following his release by Scottish champions Celtic last summer.
Newcastle United progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup courtesy of a 3-1 win against Birmingham City in Wednesday’s replay at St James’ Park.
The Magpies made eight chances to the side which beat Brentford on Saturday, handing debuts to a trio of youngsters in Dan Barlaser, Yasin Ben El-Mhanni and Stuart Findlay.
And the latter, who moved to Tyneside upon his release by Scottish champions Celtic last summer, was the pick of the bunch as far as the Toon Army are concerned.

The six-foot-three centre-back formed a good understanding with fellow Scot Grant Hanley, which helped to limit Birmingham’s opportunities on goal.
And even though the Blues did eventually break through, courtesy of David Cotterill after goals from Matt Ritchie and Yoan Gouffran had put Newcastle 2-0 ahead, Findlay can still come out with his head held high.
