Newcastle United beat Sunderland 5-0 at under-23 level last night, and Sean Longstaff’s showing was impressive.

Sean Longstaff has done his first team chances at Newcastle United no harm after another impressive performance for their under-23’s.
Longstaff helped Newcastle pick up a 5-0 win over Sunderland at development squad level at St. James’ Park last night.
The Magpies’ youngsters were in fine form, with Longstaff putting in a better performance than most.
And Newcastle fans on social media website Twitter have now started to call for him to be put into Rafael Benitez’s first-team.
Longstaff was expected to leave Newcastle on loan this summer, but he has stuck around so far.
Benitez decided to keep the youngster in his squad, after he had an impressive pre-season with Newcastle’s first-team.
Longstaff is still waiting to make his senior bow for the Magpies this season, but spaces may be opening up for him.
With Isaac Hayden suspended, Newcastle may need to promote a midfielder, and Longstaff’s performance last night is likely to have forced him into Benitez’s thinking.
