Newcastle United fans hope to see more of Ronaldo Aarons after the winger’s cameo against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday.
Aarons replaced Jacob Murphy in the 64th minute of Newcastle’s 2-2 draw at the Hawthorns, with the hosts leading 2-1.
It was only the Jamaica-born player’s second league outing all season, and though he was not directly involved in the Magpies’ equaliser – a deflected Matt Ritchie free-kick that went down as a Jonny Evans own goal – he appears to have made a positive impression on many of the Toon Army.
As far as they’re concerned, Aarons should be used from the start at Chelsea on Saturday… at the expense of £12 million summer recruit, Murphy.
Goals from Hal Robson-Kanu and Sam Field put West Brom 2-0 up in Gary Megson’s final game as Baggies caretaker, but Ciaran Clark quickly halved the deficit before Evans’ mistake.
West Brom have since hired former Newcastle boss Alan Pardew as their new head coach, and he will be assisted by another ex-Magpie in John Carver.
