Newcastle United beat Manchester City 2-1 last night, in what was a fine result for Rafael Benitez’s side.

Newcastle United fans cannot believe Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola’s comments on Sean Longstaff and Isaac Hayden after last night’s match.
Newcastle beat Manchester City 2-1 at St. James’ Park yesterday evening, in what was one of their finest results in recent years.
Rafael Benitez’s side managed to come from behind to beat the current Premier League champions.
And Guardiola was particularly impressed by both Hayden and Longstaff’s displays for Newcastle.
He told the Chronicle after the match: “We could not deal with Newcastle’s holding midfielders.”
The comments have left Newcastle fans in disbelief, as Hayden and Longstaff are not even their first choice midfielders.
The pair have only been chosen to start in Benitez’s starting line-up due to injuries, which have mounted up in recent weeks.
And Newcastle supporters have been left feeling very proud of both Hayden and Longstaff.
Newcastle’s victory has lifted them up to 14th place in the Premier League table, and eased relegation fears significantly.
