Newcastle United seized Brighton & Hove Albion’s place at the top of the Championship with a 2-1 win at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday.
The hosts looked to be heading four points clear after Glenn Murray’s penalty gave them a 14th-minute lead, but a bizarre goal from Mohamed Diame and Ayoze Perez’s calm finish turned the game on in the Magpies’ favour in the final 10 minutes.
Much of the talk on Toon Twitter, however, was on the respective displays of Newcastle’s Paul Dummett and Brighton’s Anthony Knockaert.
Knockaert has once again been one of the Championship’s standout performers this season, scoring 11 goals and creating another seven in 33 appearances.

But the Frenchman, for whom Newcastle are understood to have bid during the summer transfer window, did not have the best of nights against Rafa Benitez’s side – and Dummett, according to many Magpies supporters, was one of the main reasons why.
