Newcastle United fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to a claim made about Moussa Sissoko in a French publication.

Well-known sports newspaper L’Equipe is running a series of features on the heroes of Euro 2016. Sissoko was the subject of such a feature on Friday evening.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who joined Tottenham Hotspur from Newcastle in the summer of 2016, starred for the France national football team at the 2016 European Championship.

In the feature, L’Equipe has claimed, as translated by The Chronicle, that Sissoko was “remarkable” during his time at Newcastle, and that the Magpies’ relegation to the Championship did not “taint” his reputation.
