Chelsea are interested in Newcastle’s Karl Darlow.
Over the weekend Premier League leaders Chelsea were linked with a surprise transfer for Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow.
The Sun report Chelsea have Darlow earmarked for a number two role at the club to replace Asmir Begovic, and are considering a £8 million offer.

While the prospect of sitting on Chelsea’s bench would certainly have it’s downside, Darlow was doing the same at Newcastle a year ago, and even at the start of this season.
The former Nottingham Forest youngster has shown himself able to grasp the opportunity, and has held down a position as the club’s number one, with competition from Matz Sels, Robbie Elliott and a returning Tim Krul.

Newcastle are top of the Championship and have no great need to allow Darlow to leave, from a financial or sporting sense.
It says a lot about the 26-year-old’s progress in recent months that supporters were vociferous in their response that selling Darlow would be a terrible move.
Darlow had a shaky start at Newcastle under Steve McClaren when he had to deputise last season, but came good at the end of the campaign under Rafa Benitez despite the side’s relegation.
He is playing in a team which has given him confidence and the backing of the fans should say it all about how he is valued.
