Newcastle United are out of the FA Cup after being beaten 3-0 by Chelsea in this afternoon’s fourth round clash at Stamford Bridge.

The Magpies saw off Luton Town in the last round but faced a much sterner test as they took on Chelsea, with Antonio Conte’s men just too strong for Rafael Benitez’s side.

Two first half goals from Michy Batshuayi set Chelsea on their way, before Marcos Alonso sealed a 3-0 win with a second half strike, sending Chelsea into the next round.

Benitez will be disappointed that his side crashed out of the competition without really challenging Chelsea, with the Magpies coming up well short.

Benitez will now hope to bring in reinforcements before Wednesday’s transfer deadline, but fans will be praying that he can bring in quality given that one of his summer signings received huge criticism after today’s game.

Defender Javier Manquillo was snapped up from Atletico Madrid over the summer, despite the fact that he struggled to make any sort of impression with relegated rivals Sunderland last season.

The Spanish full back started against Chelsea, and fans took to Twitter to suggest that the 23-year-old is actually getting worse the more he plays, with supporters hoping they don’t see him play again this season.

One fan claimed that Manquillo’s almost unnoticed inclusion in the Newcastle side sums up how bad the squad is, with others just baffled that Newcastle even paid money to sign him.
