However, while some Newcastle fans see the worth in bringing in Cillessen, others are urging Benitez to focus on bringing in a new striker rather than a goalkeeper.
Rob Elliott has been Newcastle’s first choice stopper over the campaign so far and the Republic of Ireland international has performed well.

Joselu and Dwight Gayle have both failed to score prolifically at Premier League level, while Aleksandar Mitrovic has barely been used.
Despite Newcastle’s striking problems, they are still performing well in the Premier League, and currently sit in 11th place in the top flight standings.
