Newcastle United's Jack Colback applauds fans after the match

Newcastle United fans appear to have been less than impressed by Jack Colback’s contribution against Reading last night.

Colback is not the most popular player at St. James’ Park at the moment, even though Rafael Benitez appears to be a fan of the central-midfielder.

The former Sunderland man has been a regular starter for Newcastle so far this campaign, and was selected again last night.

However, Newcastle supporters were not particularly impressed by Colback’s display.

Many Magpies fans felt that the 27-year-old went missing throughout the season, and he took a lot of criticism on social media website Twitter.

Newcastle managed to pick up a 0-0 draw with Reading last night, to further strengthen their place in the automatic promotion spaces.

Newcastle have managed to pick up seven points from their last three matches against fellow promotion contenders – Brighton & Hove Albion, Huddersfield Town and Reading.

Benitez’s men have built up a nine point cushion over third placed Huddersfield, and only a collapse from now until the end of the season would see them miss out on promotion.
