Newcastle United fans have suggested that Rafael Benitez should look elsewhere, after news on Islam Slimani’s price-tag broke last night.

Le Buteur suggest that Newcastle would have to pay £21 million to sign Slimani on a permanent deal from Leicester City.

And most Newcastle fans now feel that that money would be much better off invested elsewhere.

Newcastle have signed Slimani on loan from Leicester, but he has only made a limited impact at St. James’ Park so far.

The Algerian international was kept out with injury during his early stages at the club, and only started for the first time in Newcastle’s last match against Everton.

Slimani has shown flashes of quality, but whether the Magpies would be willing to invest a sizeable chunk of their budget in the summer into signing him remains to be seen.

If Slimani was to move to Newcastle next season, he would be in competition with the likes of Dwight Gayle, Ayoze Perez and Joselu for a first-team place.
