The goals came from Leicester City’s Demarai Gray, Chelsea’s Lewis Baker, and a last minute winner from Southampton’s Jack Stephens.
England have already qualified for next year’s under-21 European Championships, and manager Aidy Bothroyd will have a tough time selecting his squad.
Newcastle midfielder Hayden is a player whose selection is surely certain, and sealed last night as he demonstrated his versatility.

The summer signing has played for Newcastle this season in a defensive midfield role, and featured previously for Arsenal’s under-21 side at centre-back, and his selection at right-back was unexpected.
The 21-year-old showed his quality by not looking phased by it, and the tape of his performance should make interesting viewing for Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez and his staff, in case they ever need him to fulfil a similar role for them.
