Hanley featured for Newcastle in the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Oxford away from home at the Kassam Stadium.
The 25-year-old defender, who joined the Magpies from Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £6 million, started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes.
The Magpies suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat, thanks to goals from Kane Hemmings, Curtis Nelson and Toni Martinez.

According to a recent report in The Sun, Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Hanley from Newcastle in the January transfer window.
