Florian Thauvin has left Newcastle, and fans are hoping for a replacement.
Florian Thauvin celebrates after scoring the first goal for Newcastle
Florian Thauvin is leaving Newcastle United once again, with Marseille confirming a move.
Interim manager Franck Passi told Le Phoceen: “Florian Thauvin will join us as soon as possible, Gunter has completed (the deal) this morning.”
He was referring to sporting director Gunter Jacob, who also claimed a deal to re-sign the attacker has been struck.
Chronicle Live report that Thauvin’s move is a loan, with an option for Marseille to buy. Newcastle confirmed the move, insisting Marseille have an ‘obligation to buy’.

Newcastle signed the attacker 12 months ago from Marseille, before loaning him back after just six months.
With the club suffering relegation to the Championship, it was always unlikely Thauvin would be sticking around, and now Newcastle can focus on potentially bringing in a replacement.
The frustrating part about the move, is that Thauvin is a talented player, who if he really put his mind to it, could have been a real asset to Newcastle this season.

The attacker featured several times in pre-season, and had appeared to be winning the favour of Rafa Benitez, but now it appears unlikely he will ever play for the club again.
