Newcastle United have been put on red alert as Fernando Torres wishes to return to the Premier League.

Fernando Torres of Club Atletico de Madrid looks on during the La Liga match between Leganes and Atletico Madrid at Estadio Municipal de Butarque on September 30, 2017 in Leganes, Spain.

For the second successive January transfer window, Fernando Torres has been linked with a move to Newcastle United.

According to reports from the Mirror, Torres has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League again.

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is hoping to be reunited with Torres in January. Benitez signed Torres at Liverpool from Atletico and turned him into one of the best forwards in the world. The pair also worked together once again at Chelsea.

Signing a proven Premier League forward is a priority for the Magpies, but a move for Torres doesn’t make enough sense, even if it is on loan.

The report claims that Torres, who has made 110 appearances for the Spain national team, wants to return to the Premier League on a short-term basis as he wishes to finish his career at his boyhood club.
