Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini is set to be out for a month with injury.

Newcastle United supporters have suggested that Fabricio Coloccini’s injury could serve as a blessing in disguise for the club.

According to the Daily Mirror, Coloccini has picked up an injury in Newcastle United training and he could be set to miss up to a month’s worth of action.

The Magpies squad are currently in La Manga on warm weather training, and Coloccini is said to have picked up the problem while participating in the warm down.

The 33-year-old defender’s absence leaves McClaren’s options thin on the ground at the back, but Newcastle fans don’t appear to be too disappointed that he will be sidelined.

Coloccini’s performances this season have been short of the standard required, and Newcastle supporters also not convinced he is the right man to captain the side.

Jonjo Shelvey wore the armband in a friendly match against Lillestrome, and Magpies fans have suggested that he would be a better option to led their side.

In Coloccini’s absence, Jamaal Lascelles is likely to step into their starting line-up.

And Newcastle supporters seem to have more faith in the former Nottingham Forest man than they do in Coloccini.

Here is the best reaction to Coloccini’s injury on social media site Twitter.
