Newcastle lost 1-0 to the German side, with Schar getting his first chance to impress his new side’s supporters following his recent move to St. James’ Park.
However, the centre-back struggled during the contest, with Newcastle supporters criticising him on social media website Twitter.
Schar could be forced into playing regularly for Newcastle next season, following an injury to Florian Lejeune.
If Rafael Benitez wanted to keep Schar in reserve to allow him to settle he may no longer have a chance, and it seems that the new addition may need time to adapt.
With Lejeune sidelined, Schar could be forced to start in Newcastle’s opening game of the season, unless Benitez turns to the more tested Ciaran Clark.
Newcastle’s opening game of the season comes next weekend, when they take on Tottenham Hotspur.
