Newcastle United fans appear to be hoping that Florian Thauvin receives another chance at St. James’ Park, after he scored in their pre-season friendly against Bohemians yesterday.
Thauvin looked set to leave Newcastle this summer, after failing to make much of an impact last season.
The French winger spent the back end of last term out on loan at Marseille, and he was widely expected to return to Ligue 1.
However, Rafael Benitez appears prepared to give the wide-man another chance to impress at Newcastle.
And Thauvin has made a good start to pre-season, by scoring in Newcastle’s 6-0 win over Bohemians.
The Magpies were always comfortable in the contest, but Thauvin’s display caught the eye.
Dwight Gayle also got on the scoresheet for Newcastle, on his first appearance for the Tynesiders.
Gayle looked bright throughout the fixture, and earned widespread acclaim on social media site Twitter.
