Newcastle United have been linked with Djibril Sidibe.
Newcastle United landed one signing on Tuesday by securing striker Joelinton, paying a club-record fee to lure the Brazilian from Hoffenheim.
The Magpies still need more signings though, and it appears that new boss Steve Bruce wants another right back in his St James’ Park ranks.
Bruce does have Javi Manquillo and DeAndre Yedlin at his disposal, but the Daily Mail reported over the weekend that Newcastle want to re-sign Rangers right back James Tavernier.
He’s not the only one either. RMC Sport reported yesterday that Newcastle have opened talks to sign Monaco right back Djibril Sidibe, who is also wanted by West Ham according to France Football.
Sidibe, 26, won the World Cup with France last summer, and has been a regular in French football across spells with Troyes, Lille and Monaco.
Capable of playing on either side, Sidibe is a solid, well-rounded right back, but is coming off the back of a disappointing season with Monaco, meaning they’re willing to sell.
Newcastle may be able to save Sidibe, and the competition from other Premier League clubs has left some fans doubtful of a deal.
Magpies supporters were welcoming Sidibe to West Ham already, believing that he’ll end up joining the Hammers instead, even joking that they’ll be the only team in the race.
