Newcastle United’s chances of signing striker may have taken a blow.

SkySports reported that the Toon are keen on the striker, joining the likes of West Ham and Tottenham who had previously been connected to him.

Expecting him to drop down a division was always a little hopeful of Newcastle, but Wilson netted 20 goals last time he was in the Championship and would be a huge asset if Rafa Benitez could tempt him to St James’ Park.
Last night he was in action for Bournemouth in their match against Arsenal, and scored from the penalty spot.

The very fact he was in Bournemouth’s starting line-up against the Gunners was an indication that the Cherries will not be swayed into selling him, nor is Wilson the type of character to kick up a fuss and sulk to get a move.
He led the line effectively for Eddie Howe’s side despite having little service, and enhanced his reputation, and importance to Bournemouth.
Newcastle’s chances of signing the 24-year-old were not done any favours last night, and while fans would like to see him signed, they are not overly hopeful.
