Correa is considered one of the brightest prospects in La Liga, but he is yet to fully force his way into Atleti’s starting line-up.
Diego Simeone gave Correa plenty of chances last season, but Fernando Torres and Antoine Griezmann were often utilised as Atleti’s first choice strike force.
And Newcastle are now reportedly hoping to prise Correa away from the Calderon and to Tyneside.
Whether Newcastle would be able to complete the ambitious swoop remains to be seen.
But Magpies fans are certainly hoping that the reports emerging from Spain are true.
Newcastle have brought in five new players so far this summer, but Correa’s arrival would arguably be their most eye catching to date.
