Newcastle United are considering a £15 million move for Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs, according to The Sun.
It is claimed that Rafa Benitez is a big fan of the defender and Newcastle are willing to meet Arsenal’s valuation.
ESPN has since suggested Newcastle may consider the fee too high – and the reaction from fans is just as split as the consensus among the media whether the move is likely.
Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs
Gibbs is certainly talented, having represented England, but has found his chances at Arsenal limited.
His entire career has been hampered by injuries, and this has led to Spaniard Nacho Monreal reclaiming his position as Arsenal’s first choice left-back.

The defender is still just 27 and really needs a move away from Arsenal if he is to fulfil his potential, as first team football is what he needs at this stage of his career.
There is still an outside chance Gibbs could earn a place in England’s World Cup squad for 2018 but it won’t happen if he has another season on Arsenal’s bench like last season.
A move to recently promoted Newcastle United could be just what Gibbs needs, but fans are split on whether they want it to happen, certainly for the £15 million price tag which has been touted.
